Toshiba Financial Services Payment Manager

A new system that would allow Toshiba dealers 24x7 access to change a schedule of payments through the Internet. Also allow Toshiba Financial services to perform the same functions for any dealer over an intranet. Implemented on WebSpshere application server using an IBM iSeries as a database server.

Application Payment Manager
Business Benefits Allows Toshiba Dealers to Manage their cash flow and payment schedule over the Internet. Toshiba Financial Services use the same interface for managing payment schedule on behalf of clients.
Software IBM WebSphere Application Server, Standard Edition
IBM DB2® Universal Database for iSeries
IBM HTTP Server
Hardware IBM iSeries

Background

Toshiba Financial Services (TFS) are in the process of migrating their Oracle applications to an IBM iSeries. One of the functions of the existing system is the Payment management system. This allows dealers to dial up (TFS) and to manage current payments for goods and services supplied. The payment management system also allows TFS employees to perform the same functions locally on behalf of any dealer.

The implementation of the new Payment Management system was critical for the migration project to proceed on schedule.

The solution

KDP Software and Toshiba have previously had a successful relationship developing web based applications when KDP developed a Spares Order Processing system for Toshiba Information Systems Consumer Products Division.

Using the infrastructure already developed for the Spares Order Processing system KDP proposed writing the new Payment Management system to run on IBM's WebSphere Application Server. The system is written in Java, using servlet and JSP technology. The Payment Management database runs on an IBM iSeries server and completely replaces the original Oracle database.

The Payment Management system is now currently in user acceptance testing.

Cash Flow Statement
A Dealers Payment Summary

System Functionality

The payment manager allows a dealer to first display a cash flow statement which lists all current payments by payment date. This shows not only payments to be made but the total amount of all payments that are currently in dispute. The dealers credit limit is also shown.

From the cash flow a dealer can then display their payment summary. This list all the payments by period end with totals for the payment dates. At this point a dealer can move payments. From the payment summary a dealer can then display the payment details for the period end. At the payment details level the dealer can also move payments to other payment dates.

The dealer can then drill further down from the payment details to list all invoices that constitute a payment. From there the dealer can then drill down to the individual invoice details.

The system functions exactly the same way whether used on an Intranet from within Toshiba Financial services or used by a dealer over the Internet.
